Product Information
All of our wood has been reclaimed from the beams of old structures and is authentic antique pine that ranges from 80 to 200 years old. We custom mill these old beams into antique pine products that your contractor or builder can use to create stunning flooring, stair parts, doors and trim in your home. Antique pine floors make for a beautiful addition to any interior and our customers have remarked on the lovely "heart pine" wood color ranging from a light honey to a dark reddish brown that will compliment almost any type of decor. These beautiful colors and the lovely patina the pine hardwood has acquired with age provide a preferred option to other wood and flooring materials. Our wood is sold by either grade 1 or grade 2.
History of Heart Pine
The beauty of heart pine has a history that dates back to before the American Revolution. When this country was first discovered, the colonists found vast forests that contained the southern long leaf pine. These forests covered millions of acres and produced trees hundreds of years old that grew over 150 feet in height. These trees were sought after and exported to Europe for various uses. During the American Revolution, King George II demanded these trees be marked as property of the Crown for their great value. After the American Revolution, these huge trees were heavily used and their value grew with the progress of the railroad. This method continued on into the Industrial Revolution around the early 1900’s. Heart Pine was used in construction of cotton mills, factories and large warehouses. Now this beautiful resource can be shared through the retrieval of the heart pine beams found in these old structures being demolished. We are proud to be able to provide our customers with a valuable link to our past.
Millwork
All of our wood goes through a process of nail and tar removal by hand. It then goes through a full remilling process before it is shipped to your location. Our flooring is precision milled tongue and groove (T&G) or square cut ends (S4S). The T&G product is milled for an exact fit and the S4S is a glue-down product that saves time and money. You literally glue this product down and with the technology of the glue of today, you have a product that is not only easy to install but withstands moisture and wear and tear. We offer ¾" thickness in the T&G and ½" thickness in the S4S. Our widths range from 3" to 9". You can order either random width packages or all one size. Our wood comes in random lengths of 2’ to 16’. Random orders may consist of a minimum of 2 (two) sizes and maximum of 5 (five) sizes. Random orders do not consist of equal amounts of these sizes, that would be a pattern.
Ordering
Inventory of materials will vary and availability must be verified. You will need to add 10%-15% to your order to make up for waste that will be required for the installation of your project. As a wholesaler of antique pine products, we do not provide installation of our materials but we can gladly recommend quality professionals that can assist you in your building needs.
Payment and Delivery
First time customers must pay with a cashiers check or cash, and payment is due in full upon receipt of order. All custom orders require a deposit. Please allow 30 days from ordering for delivery of your material. The cost of shipping is an additional charge and the cost will vary according to the size of the load and the distance traveled to the job site. Customers are welcome to pick up and deliver their own material. Customer must supply 2 (two) people at the job site to help unload. If arrangements are not made, an additional charge will be billed. Someone must also be at the job site to inspect and sign for the material. For the proper acclimation of antique pine, we suggest that the wood should adapt to the moisture in your home for at least 10-14 days before installation begins.
